This Weed and Seed / inspection course covers the skills and knowledge required to inspect and clean machinery or material that may contribute to the spread of weeds, pests or diseases.

It is carried out under routine supervision within enterprise guidelines and training will include the examination of different areas on machinery and equipment, record and issues that pose a risk dispose of waste and infected material or weeds.

This training will include however is not limited to the below:

• Select the equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and location of site for cleaning
• Prepare to inspect and clean machinery and vehicles
• Apply safe work practices in the context of own work
• Dispose of waste materials
• Record cleaning history and inspection results
• Types of contamination
• Ways in which weeds, pests and soil borne diseases can be spread by machinery and equipment
• Cleaning techniques appropriate to machinery, vehicles and types of contaminant
• Safe work practices associated with inspecting and cleaning machinery
• Methods of disposing of solid and liquid waste
• Procedures for completing forms and delivery of reports.
